Caldwell's began in 1982 as a small decorative hardware showroom owned by the Rayford family of Mobile, Ala. After working there several years, Thorne Caldwell purchased the business and has operated it as his own since 1989.
The business left the original showroom in 2003 and opened a new, more spacious location and also changed the name from Caldwell's Decorative Hardware to Caldwell's Classic Collections. The showroom is located in Tallahassee, Fl. home of Florida State University and the capital of Florida.
Thorne and his wife, Diana, live in eastern Leon County with three children and a menagerie of pets. The family enjoys time together through a variety of recreational activities. Thorne and Diana are financial supporters of numerous charitable and civic organizations, including the Tallahassee Museum of History & Natural Science, the Buck Lake Elementary P.T.OMOAS and WFSU/NPR..
